Alberta Legislature
The Provincial Legislature
is located in downtown Edmonton, on the north bank of the
North Saskatchewan River. It boasts a large park setting with
an abundance of large, mature trees, flower beds, a fountain
and reflecting pool, as well as magnificent architecture.
The building has three sets of stairs, giant columns along
the front and many corners providing a wide variety of photo
locations. The grounds are a popular place for tourists and
locals but there is usually plenty of space for everyone.
Photographs are permitted outdoors only and do not require
a reservation or payment .

Alberta Provincial Museum
& Government House

One of the most popular wedding
locations in Edmonton, the museum and Government House offer
many different backgrounds for your wedding photographs. Ranging
from classic architecture to mature trees (and even a totem
pole), photographers love this location for the many options
that are available. There is no need to book in advance, unless
you would like to have your ceremony on the grounds or have

Fort Edmonton Park

Step into the past at Fort
Edmonton Park! Turn of the century buildings, horse-drawn
carriages, and a steam train are just a few of the highlights.
It is a wonderful place for wedding photos and can add to
the uniqueness of a the wedding. Fort Edmonton can also accommodate
the rest of your day, with facilities for ceremonies and banquets.

Hotel MacDonald

The Hotel Macdonald, one of
the oldest hotels in Edmonton, is as rich in history as it
is in photographic opportunities. Beautiful grounds overlook
the river valley, and the magnificent architecture and classy
interior make this hotel a great place for photos, provided
you are booked into one of their suites, or are having your
banquet there. link

Muttart Conservatory

Muttart Conservatory is a year-round
indoor location. There are three pyramids featuring arid,
tropical and temperate climate zones and one show pyramid
that changes frequently to suit the seasons. Not suitable
for large groups (10+) but can accommodate smaller ones. This
is a popular backup location so call early to avoid disappointment.

Devonian Botanical Gardens

Another great place with a
wide variety of plants and trees is the Devonian Botanical
Gardens. With lush gardens and acres of space, there are plenty
of locations to choose from. The Japanese Garden is the most
popular amongst wedding parties and it features a spectacular
waterfall, bridges, gazebos, a pond and much more. It is located
about a half-hour from Edmonton's west-end but is worth the

University of Alberta - Rutherford
House

One of many locations on the
University campus, Rutherford House has a striking brick and
white exterior and well-kept grounds. Outdoor photos offer
a range of backgrounds with mature trees, steps, and other
foliage as well as the building itself, which has an elegant
balcony. Inside, the rich, dark wood trim and antique furniture
make this an intimate setting for wedding photos. Space is
tight, however, so dont plan on having large groups

University of Alberta - Timms
Centre

The Timms Centre is a fairly
new theater built on the University of Alberta campus. A sweeping
staircase, painted pillars, and long railings are the primary
features of the lobby in this indoor location. For variety,
the Arts Building is a short walk and can provide some beautiful
outdoor photos. One of the older buildings on campus, the
Arts building has wonderful stone architecture, with creeping
vines and mature tress in front. A wide set of stairs leads
to the main doors and is very suitable for large groups and
family gatherings. Inside you'll find beautiful stonework
with soft window light and plenty of space for your photos.

One of the older buildings
on campus, the Arts building has wonderful stone architecture,
with creeping vines and mature tress in front. A wide set
of stairs leads to the main doors and is very suitable for
large groups and family gatherings. Inside you'll find beautiful
stonework with soft window light and plenty of space for your
photos.

Edmonton Queen Riverboat

Looking for a memorable place
to hold your ceremony? Try the Edmonton Queen Riverboat, located
at Rafter's Landing on the North Saskatchewan River. You can
have your ceremony aboard this paddle-wheel riverboat, and
enjoy a cruise up and down the river. They also have facilities
to host a banquet. Don't forget, the river valley is a beautiful
place for photos, especially in the fall. link

Neil Crawford Center

There are two Alberta Infrastructure
Buildings along 114th Street and Belgravia Road. The Neil
Crawford Centre is one of the buildings and has a large indoor
atrium that is most suitable with smaller groups and in daylight
(due to skylights in the roof).

Ramada on Kingsway (Edmonton
Inn)

The Ramada Inn on Kingsway,
near the City Centre Airport, features an indoor atrium surrounding
a lounge. The trees, rocks and bridges make for a pleasant
background for smaller groups but tend to be a bit crowded
with large groups. Call the hotel for reservations and rates.
The Ramada also has great banquet facilities for your reception.

Edmonton City Hall

City Hall is a wonderful piece
of modern architecture in the centre of downtown. It features
large staircases, various pillars and railings, and a simple
color scheme. It does not suit everyone's taste but is worth
checking out. Call for rates and restrictions on use.

Red Willow Park - St. Albert
A beautiful trail system winds
along the Sturgeon River, offering many possibilities for
outdoor photos. Some special things to note are a large wooden
train trestle, St. Albert Place (city hall) and various other
bridges and parks along the trails.

Robert
Tinga, Photography is also able to provide a portable studio
backdrop that is large enough for most group photos. This
may be set up in your banquet hall, church, or other suitable
location for portraits provided advance notice is given.
